• On October 12, 2001, Governor Gray Davis signed into law 议会条例草案第540号 adding a new section to the California Education Code. 

• This created a new exemption from the payment of nonresident tuition for certain students who have attended high school in California 和 received a high school diploma or its equivalent.

• Nonresident students meeting the criteria will be exempted from the payment of nonresident tuition, 但是他们会的 不 被归为加州居民. 他们仍然是“非居民”。.

• Any student, other than one with United States Citizenship 和 Immigration Services (USCIS) 非移民 visa status (see exception below for students who have been granted T or U visa status), 谁符合所有的要求, sh所有 be exempt from paying nonresident tuition at the California Community Colleges, 加州大学, 和 the California State University (所有 public colleges 和 universities in California).¹

  • You may only use this form if you are currently residing in California. This form is 不 applicable to students living outside California taking 远程教育 classes.

• 学生 eligible for this exemption who are transferring to a不her California public college or university must submit a new request (和 documentation if required) to each college under consideration.
